Parts Assistant Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
About this policy
Parts Assistant is a parts lookup, stock counting and order preparation app. This policy explains how the app handles information you import, scan, enter or save. It covers the app itself; any website hosting this policy may have its own hosting practices.
Information stored by the app
The app stores imported catalogue data, including part numbers, descriptions, product information and prices; scanned or manually entered SKUs and serial numbers; stock quantities, expected-stock data and descriptions; saved counts, adhesive stock records and comparison reports; order baskets and order history, including quantities, selected prices and dates; favourite and pinned items; recently viewed SKUs; and preferences and sync timestamps. Your content may contain personal or business information depending on what you enter or import. Only include information you are authorised to use.
How information is used
The app uses this information to find parts, maintain counts and orders, calculate totals and differences, show favourites and recent items, generate SKU QR codes, create exports and synchronise your data between devices. The app does not contain advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, does not sell your data, and does not send your content to OpenAI or another AI service. You do not create a separate Parts Assistant account.
Camera and file access
Camera access is requested for scanning barcodes and reading printed identifiers. Camera images are processed on the device using Apple frameworks. The app does not save or upload camera photos or video; recognised identifiers that you use in the app may be saved as records and synced. You can deny or revoke camera permission in your device’s Settings and use manual search or entry instead. The system file picker gives the app access to files you select for import.
iCloud synchronisation
When iCloud is available and the app is not paused after a reset, synchronisation starts automatically on launch, on returning to the app and after saved changes. The app stores its catalogue and saved operational data in a private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. This includes counts, reports, orders, favourites, pinned items and recently viewed SKUs. These records are not published in a public feed or sent to a developer-operated server. Apple operates the iCloud service and processes service information under its own terms and privacy policy. Apple’s infrastructure may process information outside your country. The developer does not receive your Apple Account password.
Exports and sharing
PDF and CSV exports may contain item details, quantities, prices, order references and, where relevant, serial numbers. The app creates temporary files to prepare exports. You choose whether and where to save or share them through system controls. Exporting or marking an order as ordered does not automatically send it to a supplier or POS system. Information you share is handled by the recipient or destination service under its own practices. Copies outside the app must be managed separately.
Retention and deletion
Saved app records remain on your device until you remove them using the available controls or delete the app. Offloading the app may keep its data. Device backups and copies on other devices may remain independently. The app does not automatically expire saved business records.
You can clear recently viewed items in Settings, remove favourites and pinned items, and delete saved orders, counts and reports through their relevant screens. Erase Catalogue removes catalogue contents but keeps saved counts, orders and history; those saved records may retain item details and prices. When sync is active, these changes can sync to your other devices.
Erase iCloud Data in Settings removes the app’s active synced snapshot and catalogue references and pauses syncing on this device. A small reset marker remains in iCloud to prevent updated devices from automatically uploading their old data. This action does not erase local device data, exports, backups or copies retained by others. Apple manages removal of the underlying cloud assets under its service retention processes. Older app versions may upload data again; update your other devices before resetting. Resuming sync uploads this device’s current data again after confirmation.
Deleting the app alone does not erase its iCloud data. To remove both, erase iCloud data first and then delete the app and any remaining copies or backups you no longer need.
Security and your choices
The app uses iOS/iPadOS storage and Apple’s CloudKit service rather than a separate developer-run database. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device and Apple Account, and review the contents of exports before sharing. The app’s offline features remain usable without iCloud; syncing requires an available iCloud account and connection.
Apple services and diagnostics
Apple may process account, connection and diagnostic information when providing iCloud, the App Store and operating-system services, under Apple’s privacy policy and your device settings. Any system-provided diagnostic reports made available to the developer are separate from an advertising or analytics SDK embedded in this app. This app does not operate a separate analytics server.
Privacy requests and support
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, object to certain processing, or raise a privacy complaint. Many changes can be made using the app’s controls. The developer cannot directly retrieve or erase your private iCloud records through the app’s support channel. If you contact the developer, the message and any information you choose to send will be used to respond to your request. Do not send passwords or confidential catalogue files.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when the app’s privacy practices change. The latest revision date appears with the policy. Review an updated policy before using new features that handle your information differently.
